Job Description

Our client, market leader in the food manufacturing sector is looking to hire a Factory & Cost Accountant, based in Midrand

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance to all financial procedures in the factory, managing and controlling new systems and different cost saving initiatives and the factory profitability and variance analysis

Duties and Responsibilities:

Cost Accounting

  • Manage Bills of Material (BOM) creation and updates from formulations
  • Prepare and maintain cost estimates, monthly reporting to CFO
  • Analyze product costs from supplier receipts (marginal, ABC)
  • Determine scrap factors and generate production reports
  • Upload standard costs and release estimates in SAP

Internal Controls and Analysis

  • Understand production processes (TECO, ERTR, REL, CLSD)
  • Balance production GRV and consumption monthly with accruals
  • Analyse production order variances, report monthly to CFO
  • Utilize COOIS for insights and conduct standard cost analysis
  • Daily review of WIP accounts

Factory Collaboration

  • Collaborate with factory teams (warehouse, production, planning)
  • Lead and support correct process flows
  • Monthly presentation on slow-moving and obsolete stocks
  • Weekly reporting on factory non-conformances and financial adjustments

Projects and Ad hoc

  • Assess capital projects for ROI
  • Manage financial software initiatives
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as required

Financial Accounting

  • Approve GL accounts and cost centers on purchase requisitions
  • Assist in creditor reconciliation approvals
  • Create assets in SAP and process monthly journals
  • Support audit queries related to inventory and cost of sales

Reports

  • Prepare production, sales, PPV, inventory turnover, and manufacturing cost reports
  • Conduct monthly spend analysis

Inventory

  • Approve daily cycle count adjustments
  • Investigate high variances with warehouse team
  • Coordinate and complete annual stock take

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Matric
  • Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting
  • CIMA Managerial level preferred
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar capacity within the FMCG / Manufacturing sector

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of mathematics and statistics
  • Understanding of Cost Accounting principles, standards, and methodologies
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Ability to prepare financial reports and give recommendations based on available data
  • Production process understanding
  • Production orders variance and analysis
  • Ability to perform risk and security assessments
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills
